"STONEWALL"
Last weekend, I had the pleasure of visiting General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson's Headquarters located in Winchester, Virginia.

Jackson's headquarters, which stands in its entirety, is an amazing place to visit.

Jackson loved this home, and described it as quote "beautiful" and "comfortable."

Before moving into his headquarters, Stonewall had been staying in the town of Winchester at the Taylor Hotel (which I saw during my visit)

Jackson's stay at the Taylor Hotel, however, was brief, because he was constantly disturbed by fans eager to meet him or simply catch a glimpse of the Southern hero. After moving out of the Taylor Hotel, Jackson moved into his official headquarters in Winchester.

I have attached a few pictures from Jackson's Headquarters. It is truly an incredible site filled with countless original pieces owned by Jackson. It is an amazing piece of history that is beautifully preserved. Jackson's Headquarters is truly a must-see!

RE: "STONEWALL"
Thanks for sharing, Paige - you see an awesome lot and virtually take me to places I didn't know of and probably wouldn't otherwise (I also enjoyed to learn of Washington's bathtub, which reminded me of some Roman excavation!).

Paige,

There is an excellent book Rebel Yell- The Violence, Passion, and Redemption of Stonewall Jackson. I just started reading it. It's a great book, about one the countries greatest Generals.

Dan

RE: "STONEWALL"
Eva and Roger-- Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words! I am so glad to be able to share my travels with the forum!

Dan-- Thanks for the book recommendation! I have not read that one yet, so I will look forward to getting a copy. Another good book that I really enjoyed was, "In the Footsteps of Stonewall Jackson." It really focuses on Jackson's travels and various sites related to Jackson.
