I saw that and was laughing so hard there were tears coming out of my eyes!

The MD Aviation Administration announced Baltimore Washington International Airport will resume Operations this afternoon. After all this snow I think I'll need two weeks here:

I shoveled the driveway three times over the last 36 hours and so it's finally clear. I actually enjoy shoveling (to a certain degree) mainly because I don't have to do it as often out here in Maryland than I did in Illinois. I'd say my part of Southern Marylanf got two feet of snow. It's not as much as Jim Garrett did up in the more western part of Maryland but still top five snow storm for us in the region.

I got pretty far in my audiobook of The Martian, while shoveling repeatedly. I want to finish the book before watching the movie.

Kate and I also made Snow Ice Cream to celebrate the end of the snow and the end of my shoveling. It was mighty tasty: https://twitter.com/boothiebarn/status/6...6955009026

My school district has already called off school for tomorrow. Still a lot to dig out from under. I hope everyone else in the line of the storm fared well.

I'm taking an online class and we don't get snow days! I didn't have to shovel my drive so I got off pretty easy running through the snow! Tongue

I'm going to the Wizards game tomorrow plus racing at Laurel Park was cancelled so I've been pretty bored except for watching TV. All in all, I fared well!

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is always served by the honor guard. While it is one of the moving shows to see in the Washington area, it is a show of respect for the fallen, not for the visitors. 24/7, 365. No one is at Arlington National Cemetery at 3:00am. It is one of those sites that brings out great pride in our country.

I have my skid loader about halfway dug out. I tried to start it, but in this cold weather, it is a challenge. I flooded it, so I will try again later. My driveway is about 300 yards long. Since Dave has tomorrow off, and it appears he enjoys the exercise, he's welcome to come over. I have cocoa waiting.

I had to pay a pretty hefty amount to have two young folk shovel my fairly long driveway (Jim, if I had yours, I'd move...), but it was worth every penny. It also gave me a fresh perspective on how deep the snow was in our area. I had been judging by the rails on my fence and thinking about 15-18 inches, but when the shoveling began (on a flat and even surface), it turned out to be about 20". And, I hate every inch of it!

It's not that it's just an inconvenience to me, but I worry about those who have to travel and may get injured, the damage to property, those who die as a result of accidents and heart attacks, the homeless in need of shelter, the wildlife. My heart really went out to the people along the Jersey shore when I saw the videos of the flooding and clumps of snow floating down the city streets and into people's homes and cars. I much prefer the peaceful daffodils and cherry blossoms...

I've told my friends that I suffer from PTSD - Post Traumatic Snow Disorder - after going to a mountain college in western Maryland where the first snows fell in mid-October and lasted through mid-April with almost constant winds and freezing temperatures. One March, it was -27 degrees and so much snow that we could not open the outside doors of the dormitories until the maintenance crews plowed the sidewalks (with a Jeep) and shoveled out the doors. Whatever possessed me to go to that college, I have no idea except that it was highly rated and affordable for my parents.
