RE: Who is this lady?
Hint # 3
Our mystery writer also wrote a book about Nancy Hanks that was published in 1962 She passed away in 1976 at the age of 103 or 106. Her birth year is in question. So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

RE: Who is this lady?
Congratulations Roger, you got it right!
She has written over 400 books, mainly biography's for children. Odds are, when in grade school, you or your children have probably read at least one of her books. Many are still in print and widely read today, including here work on Abraham Lincoln. http://www.amazon.com/Abraham-Lincoln-Em...am+lincoln If you click on the image of the book, you will see the original copyright date of 1932. The book cover and illustrations may have changed over the years, but the story is much the same. A pretty amazing lady. Here is her picture and some of her other books http://images.search.yahoo.com/yhs/searc...ortal_home So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

RE: Who is this lady?
I forgot to mention, I picked up an older copy of her children's book on Lincoln for $2 on our trip to Springfield last fall. (and I do remember reading it when I was in grade school)
So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

RE: Who is this lady?
Hint #1: Her name is not known in history for something she herself did.

One of the Cary sisters of Baltimore and part of the spy network? Best known for popularizing James Ryder Randall's song, "Maryland, My Maryland?"

RE: Who is this lady?
Nope, Laurie, not one of the Cary sisters.
Hint #2: Her father and Abraham Lincoln were friends. |
