RE: Who is this lady?
I have to say you all are amazing people! I always try to guess who these different people are and almost never get them right. The few that I did get correct were I believe just lucky. But I will continue to try and maybe have the guts to post a guess. Best Gary

RE: Who is this lady?
You are 100% correct, Betty, but you are going to have to share your yet undetermined prize with Eva, who got it the minute I posted the first hint. However, the two of us ganged up to keep it quiet and see if we could pester Yankee Joe.
For extra credit, what else of importance is shown in that photo? That was going to be my fourth clue. #3 was going to be "She was a confident horse woman." |

RE: Who is this lady?
Dang it! I was going to guess that! That's the photo taken with Ord and the surrender table, isn't it?
I'm going to try and turn this around on you, Rebel. How much did Ord pay for the table, and more importantly, how did he determine the amount? "There are few subjects that ignite more casual, uninformed bigotry and condescension from elites in this nation more than Dixie - Jonah Goldberg" |

RE: Who is this lady?
$40 is correct (although I've seen $50, most sources say $40) Rebel Frau Eva, but you've missed the mark with the reason. The table on which the surrender terms were drawn was purchased for $25 by Gen. Sheridan and presented to Gen. Custer (for his wife).
But why $40? Hmmmmmn, Eva! You'll have to do better than that to help "The Cause".......... "There are few subjects that ignite more casual, uninformed bigotry and condescension from elites in this nation more than Dixie - Jonah Goldberg" |

The answer is entirely common sense.

That's all the money he had on him?
So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

RE: Who is this lady?
That's it, Gene. It was the entire contents of Ord's wallet.
I'm sorry Laurie. I don't think you can pin this one on the Yankees!! Don't worry - something will come up soon. "There are few subjects that ignite more casual, uninformed bigotry and condescension from elites in this nation more than Dixie - Jonah Goldberg" |
