In honor of Mr. Norton's effort to create a new Lincoln assassination/Lincoln info site for us kooks that like this stuff, I thought it would be the perfect time to launch a new installment of BoothBuff trivia. Being I'm not BoothBuff on this site, we're going to call this little endeavor "Stump the Yankee"!! Ready to get going? I thought so! Let's get started.






This is a picture of President Lincoln taken by Alexander Gardner in 1865. What's in his hands and what's was he doing with it????????????????

Tonight's prize will be a small handbill from the Booth Theater in NYC announcing a performance of Edwin Booth on April 18th., 1882 as "Othello", prior to his departure for Europe.

I've always enjoyed BoothBuff Trivia. I find it provides the perfect ending to a nice meal with family or friends. Not to heavy, not to light. A little can go a long way, and you always end up with wanting just a little more. So, I'm looking forword to trying Stump the Yankee. But it's not available in stores! You can only get it through this special internet offering.

Well, Betty, it comes as no surprise, but you have stumped the Yankee!

When this photo was taken in Feb., 1865, Tad accompanied Lincoln to Gardner's studio. A nice photo was taken of Lincoln and Tad - the one where Tad is leaning on a table as Lincoln is seated across from him. In this photo, Lincoln is sharpening Tad's pencil.

I am a Yankee by birth. My question, though not trivia as I do not have the answer is; should I be offended at the title of this post or feel complimented?

Complimented, Rick! And Mr. Beckert is my Dad. I'm Joe. I have also spent my entire life as a Yankee. I thought "Stump the Yankee" would incite some Rebel pride (I think we're outnumbered here) and make this mess more interesting!
I'll work on a new one soon. It's gonna be like, in a small way, re-fighting the Civil War and we give them a chance to win this time!

I too am a yankee, the worse kind (transplanted from Massachusetts to North Carolina) and I am easily stumped! Look forward to some Booth Buff trivia over here! Although, I must confess, I am not that good at it.

I can speak of MA Yankees as I went to college with a bunch of them and Craig, and you are a breed all your own!! I'm from NY--arguably another bad bunch but I'm pretty confident that Laurie has fulfilled her goal of southern "Maryland-izing" me!

I admit that on my dad's side of the family I have BOTH -- he was from Eastern Tenn and I have two Union soldiers on that side of the family - one a cavalry sergeant and the other a foot soldier. I also have a Confederate soldier from the same side of the family -- so I guess although I'm Virginia born and bred - that makes me PART Yankee! HA!

Thanks to the U.S. Army Air Corps, I have the distinction of being the only Yankee in my family! They sent my parents to Mitchell Field on Long Island, NY just long enough for me to be born. Six months later, we escaped back to Langley Field in Virginia.

Hi Gene. I tried again yesterday and nada. The directions say to upload it to the root directory (where the MYBB files are located) on my server which I've done, and then activate it through the program itself. So far that has not worked.

I willl difintelly keepe trian two ket et too wurk, thuogh.
