YIKES...I know about her saving her husband's "spot" for him but I never heard about Mary actually asking visitors if they could hear old Abe?! Roger, please tell me where you read that...I want to read about it in more detail. Poor Mary! Huh

That must have been a very popular style of fan in the 1860s. I have my great-grandmother's fan of the same period, which is identical except for being originally a burgundy color. It may have been her wedding fan in November of 1860.
