Pratt writes that three Illinois Congressmen charged more than Lincoln and three charged less. John A. McClernand was the lowest at 1,227 miles, and Thomas J. Turner was the highest with 2,080 miles.

It's funny to think expense accounts have always been like that. The ancient Romans probably fudged theirs.
