RE: Tough Tarbell Trivia
Thank you David. I sincerely appreciate it.
Best Rob Something for you all to keep busy over the weekend. Who wrote Tarbell the following? "[B]eware, for in a history of Mr. Lincoln's public career you are liable to stir up the monkeys." Best Rob Abraham Lincoln is the only man, dead or alive, with whom I could have spent five years without one hour of boredom. --Ida M. Tarbell

RE: Tough Tarbell Trivia
Jesse Weik?
He seems to match most of the clues. Though, I'm not aware of a daughter who won the Caldecott Medal. I do know that Weik's granddaughter, Ann Grifalconi, was the runner-up for the Caldecott in 1987 for her book The Village of Round and Square Houses. It was published just before I started kindergarten. Rob, I'm sorry to hear about your health troubles and I hope you continue to get better. |

RE: Tough Tarbell Trivia
Steve,
You got it! It was Weik. As for the Caldecott, I misread my source for this. It came from an article written by Randall T. Shepherd in the Indiana Magazine of History. He did call it an "honor" award and didn't specify whether it was Weik's daughter or granddaughter, both of whom were described as excellent writers in their own right. Great job. Thanks for the kind words regarding my arm. Best Rob Abraham Lincoln is the only man, dead or alive, with whom I could have spent five years without one hour of boredom. --Ida M. Tarbell
