RE: Mark Twain's Grave-site- Vandalized!
More trying to cash in on the metal piece, I suppose. I've heard the laws have tightened for facilities accepting metals from scrappers. Too bad that things have come to this...

RE: Mark Twain's Grave-site- Vandalized!
Many Confederate Veteran's graves have a Southern Cross of Honor, a cast iron marker, that will disappear sometimes for the value of scrap, sometimes as a political statement. It is truly unfortunate that their are those that put a few dollars or their own agenda foremost.

RE: Mark Twain's Grave-site- Vandalized!
This time it worked. I was pleased to read of the Detroit connection with Twain. A comment is nade in the article that it wasn't thought to be the work of a scrapper. So why else would it be stolen? Your thoughts?

RE: Mark Twain's Grave-site- Vandalized!
Thoughts-The perpetrator was an anti-Twain person,or a very jealous author!?Who knows,perhaps an anti-Twain family friend!

RE: Mark Twain's Grave-site- Vandalized!
I remember several years ago when there was an incident of vandalism at the Lincoln Tomb in Springfield. A copper sword was stolen from a statue on the tomb's upper level. A teenager was arrested. He said he didn't do it to make money from the scrap. As I recall no specific reason was given other than it was simply a case of the kid getting a thrill from climbing up the statue and getting the sword.

I think your right Herb, this person is probably a frustrated writer. Which reminds me of a song...
