Another outstanding research, Gene, but not the place either. To clarify - "homestate" was supposed to mean that Abraham Lincoln had lived (not just boarded) in the respective state.

Hint #3: Members who especially lately followed the forum attentively and thoroughly are much in advantage.

Hint #4: Abraham Lincoln and another protagonist were said having stayed there at least once.
