RE: Trivia Advent Calendar
I'm going to guess that Roger is correct that this bureau is in the Mudd home, but I believe the claim is that it was probably made by Ned Spangler?

Kudos, Laurie, that is correct. It was Ned Spangler who made this dresser.

Here's the entire photo:

Glad that it has been placed in a proper room. For a number of years, it was sitting in the downstairs hall. Some people have speculated that the items that Dr. Mudd is credited with having made in Ft. Jefferson may have been made (or at least the basics) by Ned and then embellished or claimed by Dr. Sam. No matter who made them, there are some beautiful pieces.

My eyes are not seeing this very well. Could it be objects on a floor?

RE: Trivia Advent Calendar
I am sorry about the small size, but more would make it too easy!

A very good idea, but it's right v.v., Roger!

Hint #1: V.v. meant this is the top of something and the hat af someone.

Hint #2: This is the entire "top" of the something above:

RE: Trivia Advent Calendar
Hint #3: The photo shows a Lincoln family member.

Hint 4: The "something" is a means of transportation.

I am still totally lost!! Can you tell us if it's a photo of a family member taken during (1) the Springfield years or (2) the White House years?

RE: Trivia Advent Calendar
Hint #5: I am sorry that is impossible, Roger, because the family member hadn't been alive yet in those days!

Hint #6: Would another peep help?

I can't see what I'm looking at, but because of the hints, I'm guessing it might have something to do with Jack Lincoln?

RE: Trivia Advent Calendar
A very good idea, Roger, but Laurie is correct, this is from a photo of Jack Lincoln next to a bicycle.

The description of the site where I downloaded the picture reads:

According to an 1881 article in the Republic, Jack rode a bicycle 'like a professional in company with the sons of President Garfield and Attorney General MacVeagh.' This studio portrait, taken in 1885, reflects Jack’s enthusiasm for bicycling."

I am sorry this question was so frustrating to you - I thought the handlebar to be 100% revealing (the knobs look like those on children's bikes:

Thank you for your participation, Laurie and Roger! You win my best wishes for a nice evening!

That's the third time Laurie's won. Is this thing rigged?

I hit the "Report to Moderator" button, but nothing happened....
