RE: Exciting New Children's Book On The Way
What a difference in the two covers! It's much more striking; even the devil and Booth seem to stand out more.

You're right, Brtmchl. Betty and Laurie are extremely knowledgeable and generous people.

Thank you ladies.

The new cover is entirely an eye-catcher promising suspense. The red and sepia brown colors bring it to life. Looks like a "must-have". If I saw it in a bookstore it would scream "Buy me!" at me and not let me leave alone.

I thank y'all also for the kind comments. History is definitely more fun when you can share your expertise with others. Mike has done a great job with this project.

RE: Exciting New Children's Book On The Way
Nowhere in any of the posts relating to the upcoming comic book with the dark cover do I find it's name or author. Maybe I missed it. I realize it hasn't been published yet, but I would like to have that information. Do you all know of Rick Geary's great hardcover comic book in b& w about the assassination story? It's pretty clever, and better done than his next one, which is about the Lindbergh kidnapping.
I collect comic books about Lincoln, and must have about 50 or more. I have the Classics Illustrated referred to here -- in Greek! The drawings were cleaned up and much more pleasing than the original. I also have a small Spanish one. Lloyd Ostendorf drew some Lincoln-related comics for Treasure Hunt comics. The one about Dr. Mudd is terrific, and has a great panel about the assassination scene. My fav. childrens' book about Lincoln is illustrated by Jack Davis, the famed Mad magazine cartoonist. Speaking of Mad Mag., does anyone recall the issue containing a color satire of a liquor company ad showing Booth getting drunk at Taltavul's, trying to get up the courage to shoot Lincoln? It's a classic!

I have that comic, Richard -- but it's a xerox copy - don't know what year it was published....60's maybe? I used to LOVE Mad Magazine - we all used to read it in Junior and Senior High School.....Big Grin

Here's the Cartoon:

Richard, I do not have the magazine, but I think what you are referring to is here.

WOW! Great, Roger!

I've never seen it in color - all I have is the xerox....

Thanks!

With Malice Toward One : A Graphic Novel by Mike Person

Is available on Amazon.com, listed at $16.99 and $15.29 for Prime Members. This price will fall to around $12.00 for Prime Members in a week or so when it becomes available on Barnes & Noble's website.

There is a Kindle version for $7.99 but there are a few issues being worked out so I wouldn't advise the Kindle version unless you are reading it on a computer. They downloaded it in pdf so apparently it is difficult to zoom in on the pictures. I will update when this gets sorted out. E book versions will be available soon through itunes, nook, etc. that I was happier with because of the epub format.

By the way, before I recently had this book updated with a new cover I noticed there were other sellers listed on the Amazon site. With prices ranging from list price to one selling it used at $208.00. This is completly rediculous and infuriating. I understand the want to make a buck but all of these sellers are online sellers who go through Amazon and the book is Printed On Demand.

Thank you all for the kind words and support.

I'm glad you mentioned that about the used books. I always wondered about that. It was interesting that on several books, you can find a new book for less than a used one, a new hardback less expensive than a new paperback.

Just last month I ordered "The Secret War for the Union" by Edwin Fishel. (this is a 734 page book). I got a used (like new) for $0.24 plus s&h. Last week I purchased "the Lincoln Image" by Harold Holzer, new for $1.50. I am pleased with both purchases. I have purchased several nice used books for $5 or less, and a few for $1 or less.

But comparison shop, sometimes Barnes & Noble or ABE books are less expensive.

And the prices change a lot from week to week. Last December I purchased "Lincoln on Leadership" by Donald Phillips (hardcover). used (like new) for $0.50. Today, a new hardcover is $50, and a new paperback is $7.15 (and the least expensive used hardback is $3.00)

Good luck with your book sales Mike.

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?

It'd be great to have Mike come to our Author's Hour at the Conference this year so we could get autographed copies....(hint, hint!)

I hope that we will soon be selling it at Surratt House. Mike's working on pricing at the moment. Also, John"s and Barry's newest supplement to their Inside The Walls series should be in stock soon. It's devoted to the missing autopsy photo (or lack thereof), and it is beautifully done.

The museum will also be doing special sales on books in the near future. Stay tuned.

Thank you, and I can't wait to read "Alias" this fall, Powell is one of my favorite figures, he is such a mystery. His savagery, and yet he has such a mild manner. He is almost one of those perfect soldiers. He believes in his cause and follows orders completely. Where did you ever find info on past girlfriends? Anyway, I can't wait.

P.s. I will ask Laurie about the the conference details. It would be nice to put voices to names.

RE: Exciting New Children's Book On The Way
The customer reviews on Amazon are good!
I'm not normally one for graphic novels, but yours looks much better than most I've seen. Reminds me of the old Classics Illustrated comic books (I liked those), only with more of the story.

I hope you can come to the conference. I'd like to hear your story on how you were able to accomplish this.

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?
