RE: A Sandburg Stumper
Sometime in 1930 Carl Sandburg wrote a letter to Lloyd Lewis in which he wrote, "He was a poet, artist, dreamer, son of a gun, hellraiser, redheaded fiddler, farmer, inventor, politician. And I think his fame is the answer to the point that Lincoln died at just the right time."
Who was Sandburg writing about? Best Rob Abraham Lincoln is the only man, dead or alive, with whom I could have spent five years without one hour of boredom. --Ida M. Tarbell
I want the respect of intelligent men, but I will choose for myself the intelligent. --Carl Sandburg
