I have tried to enlarge that clipping both at home and on my work computer, and all I get is a very distorted, unreadable image.

The same is true for me.

Try this png copy (attached) from New York Sun 0f 12/19/1885. You'll see it says he went out with Eusebia, and returned much later, and wasn't told about the assassination until morning (which contradicts all other accounts).
