Lincoln Memorial, nearing 100, to get multimillion-dollar overhaul

In the September 28, 1913 edition of The Evening Star, Bacon highlighted the features of the Lincoln Memorial. Further, he said, "The most important object is the statue of Lincoln, which is placed in the center of the memorial. This portion of the memorial where the statue is placed will be unoccupied by any other object that would detract from its effectiveness and the visitor will be alone with it.
