RE: Daily Mail Article Civil War
Nope, everything tastes like smoke because it's up your nose, down your throat, and everywhere. I guess I'm just more of the Scarlett O'Hara type up to a point.
When I retired from those camp fires, I had to put up with ones at Surratt House when we staged our Civil War encampments and also when our reenactors assisted as sentries and escorts across "the lines" for our Christmas candlelight tours. They drove me crazy then because of the smell, but more importantly because they could set off the smoke detectors inside the historic house. Ever try to evacuate the house when Civil War Santa (anyone know Kevin Rawlings) has the public entranced with his history of the jolly old elf? Even the firemen wanted to stay after resetting the system. I suspect they were more interested in the punch and cookies, however. |
