It is equally as hard for citizens, Eva. It occasionally opens up briefly for photo ops - mainly with Mrs. Obama and selected children's groups.

They discontinued tours there a few years ago under the claim that it was a cost reducing plan, I believe. Much of the gift shop material is now sold through the White House Historical Association, which is based on Lafayette Square.
