RE: Lincoln Museums/Attractions
Harold Holzer was kind of enough to suggest to me some "must see" Lincoln sites in NYC when I was going for a brief visit several years ago. Unfortunately, I was there over a holiday and everything was either closed or I just couldn't get there around my other obligations. I hope to make it back sometime this year and visit these sites:
Cooper Union - the site where Lincoln participated in a debate and many believe it was this appearance that gave him credibility in national terms The Plymouth Church (Brooklyn) - The pew where Lincoln sat is marked New York City Hall - A reception was held here on Lincoln's inaugural journey and of course this is also where he lay in state during his funeral. One of our members here, Richard Sloan, may also have some suggestions especially regarding sites associated with Lincoln's funeral. |
