RE: Dead
I saw Joe Cocker at the Mosque in Richmond (I bet Betty knows where it is) in 1975. It was probably the lowest point in his career. While the prior Mad Dogs & Englishman tour was a critical success, Joe was taken advantage of financially and walked away broke and betrayed. He slipped into a downward spiral of drugs and alcohol. He was noticeably drunk/stone and yet, he pulled off a good performance. Shortly after this low point he met his future wife Pam and his life turned around. He was a very shy, self-effacing man and a great talent who never forgot his fans.
As Eva can probably verify, he was wildly popular in Europe and still managed to sell out very large venues. He was a true English Gentleman. Rest In Peace Joe. |
