I know Mary Lincoln was a bit of work even on her good days, but the fact that Mary Harlan didn't even attend the poor woman's funeral strikes me as a bit uncharitable to say the least. It was her mother-in-law after all.

Then the "place in the sun" nonsense after RTL's death kind of sealed it for me!

Do we know if the Lincoln-Harlan union was a marriage made in politics or heaven?
