Does a State have the right to secede?

Rob quoted some choice, wise words from the man who is supposed to be the subject of this board, Abraham Lincoln.

So it is strange that we are having a discussion on a Lincoln board about the validity of secession.

Why the heck not? And just because someone may argue, from a purely logical and legalistic viewpoint, that secession may have been legal, does not automatically give someone else the right to throw that person in the racist camp.
