Joe,
Glad to hear all went well. Best wishes for a speedy recovery! Best Rob Abraham Lincoln is the only man, dead or alive, with whom I could have spent five years without one hour of boredom. --Ida M. Tarbell

RE: Thanks
Joseph,
Your name was mentioned in a recent Surratt Courier as being from Troy, Ohio. Yesterday, I was visited by a 96-year-old Surratt Society member who made the trip to the museum just to ask what I knew about you! Don't panic -- she was born and raised in Troy, Ohio, and your mention brought back memories. Her maiden name was DeFrees. I have no idea when you arrived in Troy or when she left the town, but I'm just passing along the information. |

RE: Thanks
Thanks, everyone, it is good to be home. I will be glad when I can stop medicating since it makes it hard to concentrate--even for reading, and I am trying to finish a book on Illinois in the War of 1812 so I can move on to Jon Meacham's new book on Jefferson.
I am anxious to get busy again, but will just have to be patient. Once again, I cannot thank all of you enough for your thoughts and prayers--they have been an instrumental part of my recovery. Joe |
