New Photos!
Never seen before! Did we capture the image of Ann and Abe as the present and the past intersected for a brief moment? Photos from the 2018 Fall Springfield semi-tour https://www.flickr.com/photos/105898294@...6938637081 (photo captions in lower left corner) So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

RE: Springfield Tour
Beautiful pictures, and how I wish for the serenity of New Salem's main street. As for Ann and Abe, great thought, but Abe is not tall enough...

I enjoyed reading the marker "Lincoln the Surveyor" and how modern surveyors following Lincoln's notes found the pot with the bottle he had buried. Lincoln would have loved GPS technology. Just reread Joe's book on Lincoln's alma mater and soon I'll be walking the strrets of New Salem with Joe and forum members. So looking forward to this very special tour to walk in Lincoln's footsteps. I also know from posts describing past tours it will be a fun weekend. Can't wait to meet everyone. |

Laurie, the photo under the Lincoln with pig statue tells the story. Thanks, Anita. I finally found a magnifying glass so that I could read what I had overlooked previously. I guess it is old age, but I do have problems with seeing some things posted here - and am not tech savvy enough to know how to enlarge.

Doc tried to limit me to two hours a day on the computer. Impossible! As for Lincoln and the pig, two great pig stories. I have an all day board meeting Thursday. After seeing the agenda, I might have to ask the board's attorney for a "writ of quietus." |

RE: Springfield Tour
Unfortunately, I am not going to be able to make the tour, again. My blood pressure has been high lately — a new experience for me — and the medicine I have been taking for a week now is making me light headed and giving me dizzy spells. I am switching to another medicine today, but I don't think it will be safe for me to drive this week.
I would like some advice on how to handle one consequence of this situation. I booked a room at Carpenter Street Hotel, and booking.com is telling me that the entire cost, minus taxes, is non-refundable (as of April 30th). I am not a traveler: my only trip anywhere else in the past 10 years has been to Gettysburg in 2014. So, I am unfamiliar with dealing with these issues, and I do not know if my last-minute health situation would make a difference. I have not yet contacted the hotel about this. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks. |

RE: Springfield Tour
Call the motel direct today and tell them your situation.
I have found them to be very accommodating. I had a similar problem with my blood pressure medication. Sorry you can not make it this year. So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

I'd be surprised if the hotel wouldn't refund your reservation cost if you call them directly. I've had one bad experience (this past February) with booking.com. I won't use them again. Maybe next year. |
