RE: Springfield Tour
Gene, I'm so sorry I didn't make better plans to get to Springfield. Next time I will plan to allow more lead time and arrive a few days before the tour to plan for the weather. Notice I said next time! I'm trusting it'll happen! I can always visit Springfield. What makes the tour is meeting up with a great group of forum friends to share the experience.

New Salem park will need to be especially creative to get monies for repairs. Did you learn anything new from Terry Jones ?

Looking forward to more posts from the rest of the group.

RE: Springfield Tour
Received a beautiful postcard of the Rutledge Tavern today from "the guys" who are visiting the area. They are so lucky...

RE: Springfield Tour
It's almost that time of the year again!

We are having a spring, Springfield Tour again this year.
Dates - Thursday May 16 - Sunday May 19
Working on the details, it looks like another great visit.
Part of our trip will be to re-visit Lincoln, IL and tour the Lincoln Heritage Museum as well as some other local Lincoln sites. New Salem, The Lincoln Presidential Museum, the Lincoln Home, and more....

Now I just have to figure out how to get last years pictures posted before we leave.

Not sue you want to come? Are you sitting on the fence? A bit hesitant and undecided? Just read a of few of the previous post and photos.

More details to follow......Smile

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?

I have my tickets for Spring tour in Springfield! I have Joe's book and Joe for the visit to New Salem.- a do not miss opportunity! Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Some of my friends don't understand why I would fly from .CA to Springfield for a weekend. They don't get it. Thanks everyone. What would I do without the forum.

Thanks to Joe's hospitality, I am planning to come for this year's Springfield Tour!

I have endured a great deal of ridicule without much malice; and have received a great deal of kindness, not quite free from ridicule. I am used to it. (Letter to James H. Hackett, November 2, 1863)

RE: Springfield Tour
Thanks, Gene. I had earlier decided not to make the trip. Then, the great cathedral in Paris caught fire: somebody somewhere on the interwebs remarked that, no matter what else you think about that, it's a reminder that you should not keep putting off a trip if you really want to go somewhere or really want to see something. So, I changed my mind. Smile
