Yes, it was William Saunders that designed the Cemetery . He was a botanist and sent orange seedlings to Eliza Tibbets in California.

(I have read a review and just a few pages of Lincoln in the Bardo in a book shop .... not my type of book ... it was written by a Mr George Saunders)

And who is your new avatar? I would not like to have gotten on his bad side...
John Bright UK statesman.
No, he doesnt look like a ball of fun. Bit like Queen Victoria thinking about her son and heir.

Thanks for the history lesson. I recognized the name when you answered, but knew absolutely nothing about him.

Speaking of the Queen and her thoughts on children in general: http://mentalfloss.com/article/51762/10-...motherhood In spite of these thoughts, Victoria managed to put up with nine offspring.

My apologies if some food lessons sneak in during your reading of this.

RE: Just Trivia
Bob Dylan and a Vice President (now deceased) share a unique connection.

What is the name of the Vice President?

RE: Just Trivia
V.P. Charles Dawes had been, among other things, a pianist and composer. Perhaps Dylan did a cover for one of his songs?

Steve - you beat me to it (and yes, I cheated):

How many vice presidents are also talented composers? Well, President Calvin Coolidge's vice president, Charles Dawes, was. In 1911, he composed the music to the hit song "All in the Game," which has been performed by artists from Tommy Edwards and Dinah Shore to Elton John and Bob Dylan.

(Sorry for delay ... I had to go to bed, its now 05:35 am ) Yes, yes! Well done, kudos to Steve and Laurie.

So Bob Dylan and Charles Dawes, apart from being song-writers, what was their other claim to fame ... something that they both received?

I'll need to leave my desk soon , busy day , so I'll be away for a while ...

Both received Nobel Prizes - Dawes, the Nobel Peace Prize and Dylan the Nobel Prize for Literature. And both had No. 1 music hits. Yep, cheated again...

RE: Just Trivia
Laurie, you are a champion ! (Cheating ? Nah, its called research.) Yes, Nobel Prize.

I should also mention that Sonny Bono and Charles Dawes are the only people credited with a No. 1 pop hit who were also members of the United States Senate or House of Representatives (according to Wikipedia ... yep, I cheated too).
