Both received Nobel Prizes - Dawes, the Nobel Peace Prize and Dylan the Nobel Prize for Literature. And both had No. 1 music hits. Yep, cheated again...

I should also mention that Sonny Bono and Charles Dawes are the only people credited with a No. 1 pop hit who were also members of the United States Senate or House of Representatives (according to Wikipedia ... yep, I cheated too).
