RE: Extra Credit Questions
Frankly, I didn't know that Charles Dana had written a biography of Grant. However, I am thinking of a well-known literary figure of the 19th century who admired Grant, even though he came from a border state with strong leanings toward the South. His biography of Grant is still popular today.

RE: Extra Credit Questions
The real first name of this literary figure was "Samuel."

This author created two of the most famous fictional characters in American literature. Their names were "Tom" and "Huckleberry."

RE: Extra Credit Questions
I have been, inadvertently, misleading you here. Grant actually wrote his auto-biography and had it published by this famous literary figure referred to in my previous posts. Sorry for the confusion.

Correct, Gene!! It was, indeed, Mark Twain.

RE: Extra Credit Questions
Wild guesses are always a promising idea, Miss Bellatrix - but Gene nailed it! Kudos, Gene! Gene, I'm afraid there's no corn dog in the prize vault, but since I live near the Danish border, you win a pølser (Copenhagen street dog) instead:

RE: Extra Credit Questions
There have been two United States vessels named after Abraham Lincoln. One of them is an aircraft carrier still in active duty. What was the other vessel? And what was the unique connection of that vessel to Lincoln?

RE: Extra Credit Questions
Being interested in ships and Navy (I live at a Navy port and have toured US Navy vessels that visited) I once did a research on "Lincoln ships", and I believe it was a submarine. My guess as for the connection - was the home port the same where the Lincoln ancestors landed?

You answered the first question correctly! Wow!
Your second answer is not what I'm looking for. Try again.

Does it somehow have to do with his patent (although it wouldn't make sense for a sub)?
