I thought the series was very good. Garrison, Douglas and Stowe were the kindling that lit the fuse, exploding at Harpers Ferry.

Weren't the Abolitionists and even Republicans openly embracing secession and disunion, condemning the U.S. Constitution itself for allowing slavery? Wendell Phillips and Seward calling for the destruction of the Constitution, right up to 1860. If it was fine for the North to call for secession and disunion, and no Southern state calling that treason, how odd that when the South did secede, they took offense. Abolitionists and others who had scorned The Union and even burned the U.S. Constitution, suddenly decided "we must go to War to save the Union"? "The Constitution of our fathers was a mistake. Tear it into pieces.." Phillips.
