Congratulations, Jim! Great news! I think you once mentioned you were working three different jobs. I am assuming you have cut back on that workload?

Second, it's usually a good thing when the first thing the oncologist says to you is "congratulations". It was caught early and I am rated stage 1. They are doing further testing which will determine treatment, but their is a possibility that I may only require a hormone therapy.

This is indeed wonderful news!

RE: Jim Garrett
To keep you all in the loop, I had my second visit to my oncologist and while overall, the news was good, it wasn't as good as we initially thought. The final pathologist report shows that there were cancer cells (very few) present in my lymph nodes. That puts me back in Stage 2. That's still catching it very early but it means that I will be starting a chemotherapy regimen. I will probably start this week after next. I still have a drain in me which will come out this Friday, and then hopefully have a port put in my chest for the chemo. The good news is the treatment is only once every three weeks. The not so fun news, it's 18 weeks of therapy. In addition, radiation has come back on the table and we will discuss this on Friday.

The biggest downside is that I will probably not have my thick lucious locks of hair for the conference this spring. :0

RE: Jim Garrett
I second Roger! These are sure not amusing news and the therapies an inconvenient thing to go through, but " this, too, shall pass", and it sounds you are well taken care of and "under control" by your docs - that's good to know. We are with you, Jim!

RE: Jim Garrett
PS: As for the "biggest downside" - it's very possible your locks will grow much thicker afterwards!

RE: Jim Garrett
Thanks for the update Jim. Yes, thank goodness you caught this early and your oncology team is moving quickly. As for the "thick lucious locks", now you get to have fun with your new look. Maybe if Booth had shaved his hair off along with his mustache ....
Seriously Jim, I add my prayers and best wishes to the many from your forum friends.
