RE: Jim Garrett
My thinking here is that if we get Jim three or four medium-sized guinea fowl and a couple of those Indian runner ducks, it will keep him from getting bored or complacent.

We can all chip in $10 each and that ought to be sufficient. If Jim keeps them indoors with him, the birds will keep him from taking too many naps and he'll always have little chores to keep him busy.

Good idea, but we better warn Robin that those birds are going to be very hard to potty train... I hated growing up with chickens in the yard. I couldn't go barefoot.

Actually, they would fit right in to the menagerie. We have a pygmy goat, two pot belly pigs some chickens and assorted dogs.

OK, Jim, it's the third day after surgery, which some claim is the hardest. How are you holding up, our friend? Most importantly, have you edumacated all of the hospital staff on the details of the Lincoln assassination?

I'm doing well. I've mostly been sitting around inside because nothing is worse than sweaty dirty bandages in the summer.

With having an itch you can't scratch because of your cast, runs a close second.

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?

OMG, you are so right, Gene. I spent an entire summer in a body cast when I was ten w/o AC. It was awful! Then spent another three weeks in a military hospital in traction -- again w/o AC.

Yes!!!
Prior to the weekend we've had a lousy summer this year, cold and rainy. If I encounter some leftovers I'll send them over to make "indoors" more attractive.

Are you allowed to shower yet? The okay to do so after surgery is a real joy.

Ours has been the same. It rained just about everyday in June and the weather was about 70. I can't complain about that. Now that the kids are about to go back to school, it seems summer has just begun. For awhile I thought this is what living in Scotland must be like.
Just to be reminded that Illinois only has two seasons, hot and freezing.
