Professor Tonry on Ladies' Toiletries
Professor William P. Tonry, Anna Surratt's husband, delivered a lecture in 1875 on the chemical makeup of women's toiletries. I wonder if he used the contents of Anna's dressing table? If he did, I hope she left off using the items in question after hearing what went into these concoctions!

RE: Professor Tonry on Ladies' Toiletries
Facilitating! And yes, Anna's toiletries were probably used in this experiment -
I know that the "Roseate Bloom" was one of Mrs. Demorest's products and advertised quite frequently in her magazine; while "Laird's Bloom of Youth"supposedly contained arsenic! "The Past is a foreign country...they do things differently there" - L. P. Hartley |
