Professor Tonry on Ladies' Toiletries - Susan Higginbotham - 11-24-2014 02:07 AM

Professor William P. Tonry, Anna Surratt's husband, delivered a lecture in 1875 on the chemical makeup of women's toiletries. I wonder if he used the contents of Anna's dressing table? If he did, I hope she left off using the items in question after hearing what went into these concoctions!

Very interesting and suspect that she was his"testing model".

Facilitating! And yes, Anna's toiletries were probably used in this experiment -

I know that the "Roseate Bloom" was one of Mrs. Demorest's products and advertised quite frequently in her magazine; while "Laird's Bloom of Youth"supposedly contained arsenic!
