Professor Tonry on Ladies' Toiletries - Susan Higginbotham - 11-24-2014 01:07 AM Professor William P. Tonry, Anna Surratt's husband, delivered a lecture in 1875 on the chemical makeup of women's toiletries. I wonder if he used the contents of Anna's dressing table? If he did, I hope she left off using the items in question after hearing what went into these concoctions! RE: Professor Tonry on Ladies' Toiletries - HerbS - 11-24-2014 06:32 AM Very interesting and suspect that she was his"testing model". RE: Professor Tonry on Ladies' Toiletries - Gene C - 11-24-2014 08:00 AM Actually these were his two testing models http://www.dailyartfixx.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/pals-travis-louis.jpg RE: Professor Tonry on Ladies' Toiletries - BettyO - 11-24-2014 08:14 AM Facilitating! And yes, Anna's toiletries were probably used in this experiment - I know that the "Roseate Bloom" was one of Mrs. Demorest's products and advertised quite frequently in her magazine; while "Laird's Bloom of Youth"supposedly contained arsenic!
