RE: Assassination Trivia
At an excavation archaeologists found the remains of meals served...bones of cows, pigs, chickens and turkeys, some still bearing the marks of a butcher's knife.
Where was this excavation? |

RE: Assassination Trivia
Excellent guess, Eva, but that is not what I am thinking of.
Hint #1: Also found during the excavation were: fragments of ceramic dishes, jugs and vases tiny wine goblets perfume bottles and medicine jars machine-cut nails shoes painted horsehair-covered plaster mica sheets possibly used for window panes children's ceramic marbles broken pencil stubs tobacco pipe bowls and stems straight pins, needles and buttons a lady's haircomb |

RE: Assassination Trivia
Sounds like a general store, perhaps an excavation site in New Salem?

RE: Assassination Trivia
Excellent try, Gene, but that's not it.
Hint #2: The excavation site is not in Illinois. It has been mentioned many times on this forum. |

RE: Assassination Trivia
Thank you so much Roger. I am thrilled. After reading through the more than 5,000 artifacts I have selected the glass slide belonging to Henry and Julius Ulke.
"The archaeological evidence has revealed evidence of these boarders; most notably in the form of a microscope slide that was most likely owned by residents Henry and Julius Ulke , two photographers residing with the Petersens in the mid 1860s who were also amateur entomologists." |
