Dixon is going to Allentown, PA
Three weeks ago, I was called by Joe Garrera, the Executive Director of the Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum. I was asked to bring the diary of my ancestor George E. Dixon to display at the opening of there new exhibit, Abraham Lincoln's Journey to Greatness. I've attached the press release (Ihope). It was a stretch, when they said that Dixon was in the courtroom each day.

That's exciting Ed. The diary sounds very interesting, is any part of it on line or been published? Take lots of pictures, especially one with Laura Keene's great-great grandaughter, and let us know how it all goes.

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?

Gene, for you or anyone that has not read the story on the discovery of the diary, google Bary Cauchon's blog "A Little Touch of History". Scroll down the right side to "An Awesometalk with Ed Isaacs", this is a transcribed phone conversation that has made Dixon quite famous.

This is wonderful, Ed! These folk are in for a real treat - it's so great that you're able to share this wonderful diary and all the information about your great-great grandfather!

RE: Dixon is going to Allentown, PA
George Dixon's diary cleared up quite a few questions for John Elliott and Barry Cauchon as they did their work on life for the conspirators at the penitentiary. Ed also shared the diary with attendees at a Surratt conference and has set up a very attractive exhibit with it.

BTW: Joe Garrera of the Lehigh group has been a long-time Lincoln scholar and collector; and god bless him, he's also kind to us Lincoln assassination nuts and has given a lot of support to the Surratt House over the years.

RE: Dixon is going to Allentown, PA
Just got off the phone with Ed a bit ago!

He was filling me in on what transpired at his talk! I'm so glad that Sgt. Dixon is getting much deserved recognition - if you haven't seen the diary - it is definitely a must see! We have even go so far as to blow up photos of the soldiers on the wall to try and hopefully pick out Dixon. There were three or four sergeants up there!

Hope Ed can make it to the Conference this year!

Thanks for posting this, Roger!

RE: Dixon is going to Allentown, PA
This was a great event, the opening day of "Abraham Lincoln's Journey to Greatness" at the Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum. Doris and I were both told at the last minute that we would be introduced, and asked to say a few words. It was a great experience for me, and was happy to meet the great-great-granddaughter of Laura Keene.

I was able to meet Ed. He is a real gentleman and kindly answered everyone's questions about the diary. Doris was equally patient and obliging allowing me to take pics of her and the family bible.
