If you have not read Sidney Blumenthal's first volume (of four projected) on Lincoln, you should. It is a very well written, deeply researched, and skillful interpretation of Lincoln's early political education. I reviewed it for the Charleston Post and Courier:

If only I didn't already have a stack of books that will easily take me 18 months to read through, but what's one more?

Saw him speak at Ford's Theater last Spring. Hope to getting around to reading it.
