RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 11-26-2015 08:29 AM Thanks for trying, Gene and Eva, but it's neither of those. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 11-26-2015 09:36 AM Ford? RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 11-26-2015 09:59 AM I am sorry, Eva, but it's not Ford. Think earlier. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Jim Page - 11-26-2015 10:31 AM Coolidge? RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 11-26-2015 10:39 AM I am sorry, Jim, but it's not Coolidge. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - PaigeBooth - 11-26-2015 11:45 AM Franklin Roosevelt? I am a huge FDR fan. I remember reading that Roosevelt traveled to his property at Warm Springs every Thanksgiving to be with his fellow polio patients. Roosevelt always carved the turkey. One year, I think he said something like, "now, we get busy, and commit murder," before carving. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 11-26-2015 11:53 AM Kudos, Paige! FDR is right. Very good! You and your family win best wishes for a most wonderful Thanksgiving. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 11-26-2015 03:03 PM Kudos, Paige - thanks for that tidbit! One can see that FDR is attacking a drumstick, but I am curious to know how the neck portion of the bird was "concocted" because it appears to have been cut off more before cooking so that the stuffing could be fancily shown. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 11-27-2015 01:17 PM Before the last turkey has been digested, here's another plume-y pal to guess who saw no pardon by whom? [attachment=1959] RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Gene C - 11-27-2015 01:24 PM William Howard Taft? RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 11-27-2015 01:29 PM Good guess, Gene, but this was not Taft's turkey! RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 11-27-2015 02:42 PM Well, Eva, it was not Ronald Reagan... so I shall guess John F. Kennedy. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 11-27-2015 02:52 PM The Reagan turkey was smart, wasn't he? At least he tried to escape instead of wearing the dinner invitation as a necklace! Very close, Roger, but it was not Kennedy's turkey who presented himself like above. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 11-27-2015 04:56 PM Hint #1: Theoretically (as for the natural life expectancy of a turkey) the turkey could have met the Kennedys, too (this goes for both sides of approaching the Kennedy era). |
