After visiting the Ford Museum I may do a search for that missing Confederate Gold reported to be in Michigan. If I find it I'll share with you! Thanks, Anita! RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 10-02-2015 03:58 AM Regarding housework one First Lady said, "It takes as much courage to stick to the housework until it is done as it does to go out and meet a bear." What was the First Lady's name who said this? RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 10-02-2015 05:40 AM I have no idea, but totally agree (I think the bear is even the more interesting choice). Jackie Kennedy? RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 10-02-2015 05:55 AM Eva, your guess is excellent, but it was not Jackie Kennedy. Hint #1: Eva's guess is in the right century. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 10-02-2015 06:27 AM Hillary doesn't "look" to me like a devoted housewife either!? RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 10-02-2015 07:12 AM Nope, it's not Hillary. Hint #2: This lady said this about her husband: "If you want to get the gloomiest view of any subject on earth, ask (insert husband's name) about it." RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 10-02-2015 07:41 AM Hmmm, that should rule out several (the Bushes, RR, Carter e.g.). Hoover? RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 10-02-2015 07:49 AM Excellent, Eva! It was Lou Henry Hoover! She said the quote about housekeeping in a speech before the national convention of Girl Scout leaders. I cannot think of an appropriate prize other than to wish you a wonderful early fall weekend in Kiel. I know the 25th anniversary of Germany's reunification is tomorrow. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 10-02-2015 10:47 AM Thanks, Roger - I believe I read Hoover was a pessimist. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 10-03-2015 09:41 AM To which president are these items linked? Why? [attachment=1843] [attachment=1842] RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - L Verge - 10-03-2015 11:37 AM This is going to be a very wild guess, but the barrel is labeled as Cidre Pommeau Calvados and also says Regional Products. Cidre Pommeau is a famous product of Calvados, a region in Normandie, France. The only President I can tie this to, however, would be Eisenhower because of the Normandy invasion during WW!!??? BTW: Cidre Pommeau literally means apple cider, but if I remember correctly, this famous drink is apple juice or cider mixed with apple brandy. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 10-03-2015 12:36 PM Do these have something to do with the Grants' trip to Europe? RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 10-03-2015 12:39 PM Two excellent guesses, Laurie and Roger, but, I'm sorry to say, not correct. Laurie - cider is a good direction. There's something else in that photo which is why I chose it. And what about the other photo?
