RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 03-20-2014 06:37 PM Which president used to swim naked in the Potomac? RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - L Verge - 03-20-2014 07:01 PM I believe it was John Quincy Adams? RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 03-20-2014 07:56 PM Excellent, Laurie, that is correct. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 03-21-2014 06:05 PM Whose pet parrot had to be taken away at the funeral because it was swearing? RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - L Verge - 03-21-2014 06:30 PM Andrew Jackson's Back to J.Q. Adams - I truly am trying to find the answer to this. It seems to me that he had an unusual pet also, but I can't remember what it was. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 03-21-2014 06:53 PM Excellent again, Laurie! (Seems it makes no sense to ask questions from the book on the presidents I bought at the Portrait Gallery...) RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - L Verge - 03-21-2014 07:18 PM I remember these from a children's book that I bought for my grandson about ten years ago. I just can't remember the Adams pet. Someone else had a pair of tiger cubs given to them, but they had to be turned over to the zoo. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 03-21-2014 07:49 PM Er, it IS a children's book I bought...it's so nicely done that I just couldn't resist... RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - L Verge - 03-21-2014 07:50 PM If it's the same book, Aaron and I both loved it. I also cheated just now and googled Presidential pets. JQ Adams had a pet alligator that was given to him by Lafayette. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 03-21-2014 08:16 PM Lafayette was also at the NPG: [attachment=513] The book is entitled "Smart about the Presidents" (thought becoming smart even though through a children's book would do no harm, wouldn't it?) RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 03-31-2014 05:40 AM Baseball is back! Which president attended the most baseball games? RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Gene C - 03-31-2014 07:19 AM I'd guess George Bush W Bush since he was a managing general partner for several year for the Texas Rangers RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 03-31-2014 07:49 AM Logical guess, Gene, but it's not him. He's in 9th place tied with Herbert Hoover (both of whom attended 9 games). The leader attended 16 games. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 03-31-2014 08:09 AM Richard Nixon? (I think at least he was a baseball fan.) RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 03-31-2014 08:19 AM Good try, Eva, but it's not him. He is tied for 3rd with Eisenhower (both attended 13 games). |
