Thank you to Dave Taylor for correcting my error. I was thinking the boulder was in the small town of Oregon, Wisconsin. In truth it's located in Oregon, Illinois. David L. is correct when he said Illinois.

Oregon, Wisconsin, and Oregon, Illinois, are roughly 70 miles apart.

I was right about the state, but wrong about the section of the state within Illinois. Oregon, Illinois is located in the northwestern section of the state.

On a different point, I wonder how many cities and towns in the United States are named after a different state. I choose not to Google this trivia question.
