RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Steve - 05-02-2020 05:54 AM Are you sure you have the right photo? I think that's a photograph of stage actress Julia Dean Cooper. According to her Wikipedia page, she was the daughter of actor and theater manager Edwin Dean: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julia_Dean_(actress,_born_1830) RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 05-02-2020 06:25 AM Yes, I am sure I have the right photo. I agree the other lady could be a twin, but the President's daughter whom I posted did not have a twin sister. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 05-02-2020 10:53 AM Hint #1: Like my previous question, this daughter of a President has an article devoted to her in Wikipedia. Note to Steve: It's possible that there is some sort of confusion/mistake between photos of the Presidential daughter I am looking for and Julia Dean Cooper. The two women do look very much alike. I'll explain why I am confused after the right answer is posted. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 05-02-2020 03:27 PM I'm not sure about the period - the hairdo looks like 19th century, the dotted blouse rather 20th century. Was the photo taken in the 20th century? RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 05-02-2020 05:16 PM Nope, not John Tyler. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - J. Beckert - 05-02-2020 08:34 PM Total shot in the dark. Grover Cleveland? RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 05-03-2020 03:48 AM Nope, not Cleveland. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 05-03-2020 03:56 AM Hint #2: She frequently served as White House hostess when her mother was ill. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Steve - 05-03-2020 05:58 AM Millard Fillmore RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 05-03-2020 07:11 AM Congratulations, Steve! Yes, it is Mary Abigail Fillmore. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Abigail_Fillmore The image I posted is a reverse image of the photos here https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/2706/mary-abigail-fillmore and https://filiopietismprism.blogspot.com/2013/03/fearless-females-mary-abigail-fillmore.html However, the reversed image I posted looks exactly like an actress named Julia Dean. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julia_Dean_(actress,_born_1830) Thus, I am confused. I think I posted an image of Millard Fillmore's daughter, but I am not 100% certain. Possibly someone can clear up the confusion. RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 05-03-2020 09:12 AM The image as one of the actress was published in 1890 here: https://archive.org/stream/centuryillustrat00nico#page/378/mode/2up RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 05-03-2020 09:46 AM Thanks, Eva. That sure looks like the lady I posted. Here's a photo of Mary Abigail Fillmore from Wikipedia: RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 05-15-2020 04:49 PM Please try to answer without googling. Which President is responsible for this quote? "Nothing can now be believed which is seen in a newspaper. Truth itself becomes suspicious by being put into that polluted vehicle." |
