RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 04-27-2013
Yes, you got it, Joe. Lady Bird Johnson said that in an interview with People magazine, February 2, 1987.
Eva, you are a winner, too, as you correctly narrowed down the time frame.

I watched a documentary a while back, I think it was called "The Men Who Killed Kennedy" and they interviewed LBJ's supposed mistress. She had a photo of her son who she claimed was LBJ's. That kid was the spit and image of Johnson.

If you like, try a very trivia extra credit question.

Joe,
I once was talking to a Secret Service agent who had covered LBJ. According to him, his infidelities extended to many women and there were series of codes that the agents had to alert those down the line that Lady Bird was approaching. There were even closets involved in the White House.
Despite that, I still think that it took the pure politician like LBJ to get the Civil Rights Act passed through Congress. Maybe because he knew where their mistresses and/or skeletons were stashed also???

The doppelganger kid was interesting enough, but the mistress was very interesting on her own. She said LBJ told her on Nov 21st., after tomorrow, those SOB's will never embarrass me again.

A statement that Bugliosi proved as false

Which First Lady made this observation:
"The press is reporting things that should not be reported, in my opinion."
RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - J. Beckert - 05-10-2013
If anyone had reason to say that, I'd say it was Hilary Clinton.
RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Gene C - 05-10-2013
How many first lady's thought that, but never said it....publicly.
RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 05-10-2013
Joe, that's one terrific guess, but it's not her.
RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 05-10-2013
Hint #1: The First Lady who said the quote is still living, and she also said, "The press never gets anything right."
The prize for getting the correct answer is a free copy of this paper.

Nancy Reagan ?
RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 05-10-2013
Nope, not her, Gene.
RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Laurie Verge - 05-10-2013
Barbara Bush? I can only see her as being brave enough to bad-mouth our fourth estate.
