Eva, I may be wrong on this. At lunch today I asked Vicki what it was. She said that when she was young she would write a letter and give it to another girl. That girl would add to it, and give it to yet another girl. And so on. Many girls would receive and add to the same letter (all the friends in the group). That is what Vicki thought a round robin letter was.

Thanks much - very interesting! (Reminds me of a classroom game working like this.)

This woman became a First Lady. Who is she?

Francis Folsom Cleveland

Nope, not her, Bill.

Mrs. Coolidge?

As for the incumbent one, is she the first not-US born one?

RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 05-06-2017 11:29 AM

Nope, not her, Eva.

Louisa Adams, wife of John Quincy Adams, was born in London. Melania Trump is the second First Lady born outside the USA.

Thank you for the information, Roger.

You are welcome, Eva.

Hint #1: The lady was born in the 19th century; she was a First Lady in the 20th century.

Nellie Taft

Very good, Bill! You win. The photo is of a young Nellie Taft.

For anyone interested in reading about her life, plus many more photos, please go here.

Huh, she looks so "innocent" and "pure" in the photo.
"In addition to a lifelong love of playing cards for small stakes, Nellie Taft drank beer and smoked cigarettes."

A voodoo doll of Nellie Taft was once buried in the grounds of the White House. Who buried the voodoo doll of Nellie Taft?

RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 05-07-2017 01:45 PM

I'd guess either a kid (rather a boy) or - if older - a female. One of her kids?

RE: Presidents and First Ladies Trivia - RJNorton - 05-07-2017 01:56 PM

You are on the right track, Eva. It was a female. She was an adult. It was not done by a child of Nellie Taft.
