Have you ever seen a US President at an event or passing by in a motorcade?

My father and I attended a speech that President Kennedy gave at a high school football stadium in Pueblo, CO in August of 1962.

I interviewed Bill Clinton (while he was still governor of Arkansas) and was in the audience of the first presidential debate in 1992 in St. Louis. While it was interesting to see something like that up close, the one thing I remember more is sitting next to Steve Roberts, who was doing commentary for NPR (and is the husband of the late Cokie Roberts). When he wasn't busy I said to him, "I really don't want to bother you, but I just wanted to let you know I love your wife." He smiled at me and said, "so do I."

In 1963 I watched JFK's funeral caisson approach the Capitol as I stood on the sidewalk on Pennsylvania Avenue. I was 16. Dad drove us downtown so we could watch it pass by. Never forgot the sight.

Regarded as a criminal by some ... the person whose image is above (not Gene).

He had a shop close to the birthplace of the USA.

He made a lot of money.

His shop sold toiletries, stationery, and souvenirs (including patriotic items that made jokes of the Confederates).

It was asserted that this man did more damage to the Confederate cause than General McClennan and his army.
