French historian caught stealing from US National Archives
A French historian was caught stealing dog tags from American airmen killed during WWII to sell on eBay:

The man's lack of decency just astounds!

Story title: "The French Historian Who 'Grave-Robbed' The Dog Tags of WWII US Airmen"

Author's story description: "Antonin DeHays stole at least 291 dog tags, most belonging to U.S. airmen who were shot down in enemy territory during World War II, and 134 files including personal documents."

(Daily Beast by Allison McNearney 09.01.18)

"In one case, he gave a dog tag that once belonged to Tuskegee airman Leonard Willette, who was killed in a crash over Germany, to a military aviation museum in exchange for the chance to ride in a Spitfire airplane."

"So very difficult a matter is it to trace and find out the truth of anything by history." -- Plutarch

Maybe it should be illegal to buy or sell dog tags of someone killed in action. It is close to trafficking in body parts.
