RE: A Tribute to Roger J. Norton
Roger,
We are all indebted to you for creating this outstanding educational tool that unites us all who have an interest in all aspects of the Lincoln story. Logging on, reading, and responding (and sometimes retaliating!) is truly a highlight of each of my days. God bless you, sir, for your knowledge, generosity, and patience. |

RE: A Tribute to Roger J. Norton
You have truly built a community, Roger, that has meant so much to so many of us, not to mention the thousands of students and scholars enriched by your time, knowledge, effort, and (significantly) patience. I join my peers in saying this recognition is your well-deserved due. Thank you for all you've done for all of us. It is an honor to know you.

I've found in life that there are givers and there are takers. You just can't beat a superb teacher.

This site is one of the best places on the Internet. And the paver is a much deserved thank you.
I have endured a great deal of ridicule without much malice; and have received a great deal of kindness, not quite free from ridicule. I am used to it. (Letter to James H. Hackett, November 2, 1863) |

I cannot word it better and second the others - thank you for everything! I hope the paver expresses and shows appropriately! (Very true, Dr. Houmes!)

Oh my...I just got up, and I cannot believe what I am reading. I am humbled and honored by your generosity. I am speechless and totally surprised ("shocked" might be a more accurate word). Friends, thank you for your kind words! I am not good at extemporaneous speaking or writing; just know how very much this is appreciated. I will remember this forever. My wife does not get up for another hour; I cannot wait to tell her.

I'm surprised Roger that your are letting your wife sleep till 5:54 AM. This is a well deserved public recognition for all that you have done and continue to do. Considering some of the "interesting" people we have had on the forum, your patience and politeness has been quite a personal example for all of us, in addition to your example of enthusiasm and knowledge in sharing about the life of Abraham Lincoln. I am looking forward to adding this new site to visit for this years Springfield Tour. Thanks Roger! So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

Maybe (hopefully) the paver will be laid by then (or then) - it would be neat if you could take photos! [/quote] My understanding from the ALPLM is that the paver will be laid in October and they will send a photo of it once it is done. |
