We've been doing some of these things at Surratt House for forty years. Just today, our education coordinator dragged a heavy suitcase of artifacts, clothing, etc. up from the basement because she's heading into a school tomorrow to do a program on what life was like for young kids during the mid-1800s. Included in the "treasures" that she teaches with is a very popular item - a chamber pot, just one of about dozen unusual things they will talk about. I am passing this link on to my staff and volunteers to show that their efforts do make a difference. P.S. Adults have just as much fun with some of these ideas as the kids do. |
