A GREAT DAY TO TALK HISTORY!
I was asked to speak at an annual meeting for Pennsylvania State Employees. This included employees from the Department of Environmental Protection, Police Officers and other government workers. The conference was held this weekend and was an impressive event with a great turnout.
I was impressed by the quality and numerous questions I received during the Question and Answer session after my presentation. I was honored to be invited to speak to such an amazing group with an interest in history and would like to share this wonderful experience with all of you. Blackburn did not try to assassinate Lincoln with an "infected" blanket, but with "infected" shirts, which were sent to the White House as a donation from an anonymous donor. The scheme was revealed by Godfrey Hyams at the trial of the conspirators. Also, please be careful about identifying Booth on the balcony at Lincoln's Second Inauguration; there are a lot of different opinions as to who, if anyone, is Booth in the famous photograph. John |

I did not discuss Dr. Blackburn in my speech. But I thank you for your comments. I also appreciate your opinion about Booth; it is great how we can all have our own opinions here and share them. Again, many thanks for viewing my speech! |

RE: A GREAT DAY TO TALK HISTORY!
Thanks, Paige - I still get pictures only, where/whatever I click (or do I have to be a Twitter member?)

RE: A GREAT DAY TO TALK HISTORY!
Excellent job, Paige. You handled yourself very well and looked quite professional.
Eva, it took about 20-30 seconds on my computer for the sound to mesh with the video on each photo - but it was there. |

Eva, You do not have to be a Twitter member to see videos, but sometimes certain things display differently on different computers. Try this: Just do a Google search online for my Twitter page. Google my Twitter just like this: Paige@April14th1865 and you will see my Twitter website as a choice there; just click on it and it will take you directly to my Twitter page. You will be able to watch the videos from there. I hope this will work for you. |

RE: A GREAT DAY TO TALK HISTORY!
Thanks, everyone - I can see the photos and descriptions, and there are blue text parts to click on, but clicking just takes me to photos/twitter posts again, no videos.

RE: A GREAT DAY TO TALK HISTORY!
Awesome, Paige!
Not long ago, Twitter made some changes to how it displays videos, leaving some browsers unable to show them. I use Pale Moon, and I cannot view Twitter videos without opening them in Internet Explorer. I have endured a great deal of ridicule without much malice; and have received a great deal of kindness, not quite free from ridicule. I am used to it. (Letter to James H. Hackett, November 2, 1863) |
