RE: Congratulations!
Thank you all very much! Mom and John Wilkes Booth is about a thirteen year old girl, Cat, whose mother has become a serious hoarder since her divorce a from Cat's father a year ago. Among the stuff that Mom hoards are books, posters and other assassination related material. Dad comes inside the house one day and, horrified by the mess that he sees, insists that Cat come to live with him and his new wife, Jennifer, which Cat does not want to do. Mom won't hear of getting rid of anything so Cat and her friend decide on a solution to hiding the clutter but that solution only makes things worse. There is also a mystery photograph that Cat finds at the bottom of an old chest. Mom, who suffers from sciatica, spends her time on an assassination forum " where others like her argue about the smallest details of the assassination."
"New Voices in Children's Literature: Tassy Walden Awards competition encourages and nurtures the creation of exceptional quality books for children by unpublished Connecticut writers and illustrators." http://www.shorelinearts.org/tassywalden.cfm |

RE: Congratulations!
OMG, Linda, I think you've written about me and half my friends!! I'm not a hoarder, but I know a few who are when it comes to the Lincoln assassination. Congratulations on winning.

RE: Congratulations!
Thanks, Laurie.
In addition to all her assassination books, Mom has a Bobblehead Booth, a Cardboard Booth and a replica of Booth's deringer (or derringer). She's also inherited stuff from her mother and grandmother not to mention she's been ordering all kinds of things online that she will never use. |

I agree with Laurie, this sounds fun.
Please let us know when it becomes available. So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

RE: Congratulations!
The book is fun but poor Cat has a mother who can't stop hoarding and a newly remarried father whose wife is not thrilled with having Cat live with them.
Many Tassy winners go on to publish their books. I will keep you posted. |

RE: Congratulations!
Congratulations! (I've been culling my books in anticipation of moving, and I can identify with your heroine's mother. Haven't made a dent in the Lincoln-related ones yet, and probably won't.)
