Pronunciation S.O.S.
Is anyone certain of the pronunciation of
A. R. Cazauran's name. I've heard it as A.R. Kaz-or-ron, but it's one of the names the actor who is voicing Lincoln's Final Hours inquired about, and I realized I'm not entirely certain. Does anyone know if Kaz-or-ron or Kaz-er-ran would be correct? Thanks, Kathy |

RE: Pronunciation S.O.S.
I can only take a wild stab and pray that it has something to do with French roots, but the "au" together should be an "o" sound. I would guess the last syllable to be "ran," but that is strictly a guess. Where is RogerM, he's our linguistics expert?

RE: Pronunciation S.O.S.
Lauri. If this is a name from France, I would guess that it is phonetically pronounced something like this: "ka-zo-rô" The second "o" with the circumflex(upset-down "v") above it, is nasal-like, almost sounding like an "n" at the end; but not quite.
I should have added that the second "o", which I have represented as "ô" because of the nasal aspect, is closer in pronunciation to a short "o" than is the first one. |

RE: Pronunciation S.O.S.
Thanks, everyone. This is really very helpful. I was stumped. I looked in the indexes of the books I have, thinking I could look it up in the audiobooks if he were mentioned in the book, but, invariably, he wasn't central enough to be indexed. He's not central enough to be listed in the Lincoln Assassination Encyclopedia, my go-to quick reference for all things assassination.
