Thank you Betty! I was invited by some friends to attend the celebration here in Germany. They work for the USO and will be hosting a great party for those that cannot be home that day. No, our lives and situations are not perfect- far from it. We may be suffering from illness or having other difficult circumstances. No matter what condition we find ourselves in- we can still take the time to be grateful. It really is a matter of choice of perspective. I don't know the author of rhis but it says everything/

Bill, I do not know if this is accurate or not, but here it says the author was a poet named Martin D. Buxbaum.

This was a "hit song" during my elementary school days! I wonder how many people under the age of 40 have even heard it today.

I, too remember singing this 1844 "hit" in elementary school!
